Drift: Sleep Sounds That Know When to Stop

Most sleep content is built to loop all night. Drift isn't. Put it on, follow a long exhale, and the whole soundscape glides down with you. The visuals dim, the chimes go quiet, and the sound fades itself out. It's built to end when you're already asleep, not to keep playing at you until morning. And if you prefer sound all night, you can have that too.

How Drift works

  1. Tap Drift to sleep. It sits under the four intentions. There are no tones or frequencies to choose.
  2. Pick a length. 10, 20, 30, or 45 minutes, or Until I stop.
  3. Follow the exhale. The breath is a long 4 in, 8 out with no holds, the easiest pattern to follow when you're drowsy.
  4. Let it wind down. The screen darkens, the chimes soften, and the sound fades to silence by the end. Or it keeps playing if you picked Until I stop.

Why a long exhale

Breathing out for longer than you breathe in slows the heart and shifts the body toward rest. Holds are fine during the day, but at night they give a tired mind one more thing to count. Drift drops them. More on this in breathing exercises for sleep.
